Verse-ality Field Guide Diagnostic

I = sc²

Based on Stevens, K. (2025). Verse-ality: A Symbolic Definition for the Relational Age.

What is Speed of Connection?

Speed of Connection is the rate at which meaning, decisions, pressure, responsibility, and symbolic weight move through relational systems.

In the Verse-ality equation I = sc², speed of connection (c) is squared because its effects are non-linear. Small increases in velocity can produce dramatic changes in system behaviour — for better or worse.

Critical interaction: High symbolic mass under high speed is structurally dangerous. Meaning that carries weight needs time to settle. When velocity exceeds the capacity for integration, systems fracture.

This tool helps you assess whether your system's tempo matches what humans can meaningfully engage with.

System Tempo & Velocity

1. At what tempo does this system operate?

2. Can people pause, slow down, or reverse actions?

3. What moves faster — the system or the human?

4. How much time is built in for integration and consolidation?

Friction & Control

5. Where are the friction points that slow propagation?

6. What happens if someone needs more time?

Velocity & Stakes Interaction

7. How do decisions propagate through the system?

8. How does this system's speed relate to what's at stake?
